About The Orchestra
Stirling Orchestra was formed in 1983 by a small group of amateur musicians, and has now grown to a large orchestra of around 70 players. The membership is drawn mostly from the Stirling area, although many come from much further afield across Central Scotland, and embraces a wide range of backgrounds and professions, with retirees and full time parents as well as students from Stirling University. Stirling Orchestra performs two or three concerts a year in Stirling’s Albert Halls and presents an eclectic repertoire ranging from the ‘classics’ to 20th century, film scores and more. The orchestra rehearses at Wallace High School in Stirling on Thursday evenings.
Stirling Orchestra provides musicians in the area a place where they can join others in performing wonderful music, whilst sharing friendships and having fun. We like to think of ourselves as one big musical family!
